Together with TotalEnergies, the HB Magpies have chosen the Acorn Project as the charity
to benefit from this year’s charity jersey fundraising initiative.
It’s the sixth season of the charity jersey concept in a partnership between the Hawke’s Bay Rugby Union and principal sponsor TotalEnergies NZ
The HB Magpies 2025 Charity Jersey has been revealed in support of The Acorn Project Hawke’s Bay—a local organisation providing wraparound support for young people and their families living with cancer in Hawke’s Bay.
In a first for the initiative the 2025 jersey has been designed by the youth connected to The Acorn Project. Their drawings have been replicated onto this year’s charity jersey creating a bright, and eye-catching jersey design. The founder of the Acorn project had this to say:
“We are so excited to have been chosen as the recipients of the Magpies Charity Jersey 2025. Working with Hawke’s Bay Rugby Union, the Magpies, and TotalEnergies NZ is an amazing opportunity for us and we are so grateful. Together we will raise our profile and highlight the support that we offer to young people under 25 years and their family living with cancer right here in the Bay. The more we spread the word, the more people we can help.”
This season the Charity jersey match will be the last home game of the season vs Auckland Rugby. The game is set to kick off at 7:05pm at Mclean Park on Thursday 25th September. This years charity jerseys will be auctioned before the game, with all proceeds going to The Acorn Project. A limited number of replica jerseys are also being produced and will be available to purchase online and from Stirling Sport. The proceeds from all Charity jersey sales will go to The Acorn Project.
As in previous seasons, Magpies players will be working with the charity providing support where it’s best needed and to help raise awareness.
The charity jersey initiative was established in 2020 as a collaboration between TotalEnergies NZ and the Hawke’s Bay Rugby Union. In the first season of the initiative 23 charity jerseys were produced and worn in a dedicated match. These were then auctioned off and raised over $16,000.00 for the Rural Support Trust Hawkes Bay.
The success of the initiative led to us continuing this each season since it’s inception. The previous recipients of the charity jersey fundraising initiative are below. Click through to find out more about each charity and how you can help!
