Concept Motorsport – Nick Ross is boss

An update from the Ross team at Concept Motorsport

Well what interesting times we are all living in, Covid has certainly thrown a curveball at so many, and one of those is the New Zealand’s Motorsport industry.

Here at Concept Motorsport we had had a busy few months planned, seven race meetings were planned for Nick to attend between October and December.

Starting with the four rounds of the South Island Endurance series, where Nick was to race for Collins Motorsport in their Marc racecar. The opening round at Cromwell set about new challenges that teams would face with restrictions but it went ahead at the start of October. And there was some great racing with bumper fields considering those in Auckland were unable to attend.

Nick returned back to Cambridge and relocated to a family bach that was in level 2 and worked remotely between rounds to enable him to compete at the second round in Timaru.

Unfortunately the nature of Nicks role at C & R Developments meant he was needing to return back to Cambridge. Hoping that Cambridge would return to level 2 and he would be able to get back down to the South Island for Rounds three and Four of the Endurance series, unfortunately this hasn’t been the case and the Waikato is still in Level 3.2.

Onwards and upwards we looked forward to starting the Summer Series with CMC, but again with little movements in the level restrictions, it was announced that Round 1 of the Summer series that was planned to start at Hampton Downs this coming weekend would be postponed and a new date would be announced at the end of the racing calendar, A new date has been set down for 23-25 April 2022 at Hampton Downs.

And so we eagerly awaited the next announcement for Round 2 to kick into gear 03-05 December at Pukekohe, yesterday we received the news the series promoters made the decision to cancel this round, noting that due to level restrictions making it impossible to run this event.

We now look forward, with fingers crossed that our opening round will be in Cromwell in January 2022, we will keep you updated as we receive news on what is happening and when.
